Orthodontics

Presentation

The Specialist in Orthodontics must have acquired theoretical, scientific and professional knowledge in the field of patients care with various malocclusions.
The diagnostic pathway integrates factors related to the development of the craniofacial district, and all possible developmental abnormalities, with emphasis on dentition, skeletal growth, and temporomandibular joints.
The training provides knowledge about the natural history of malocclusions at different ages and how they should be treated and managed, paying attention to clinical protocols and the application of devices and therapeutic procedures that may involve interprofessional collaboration with other dental and maxillofacial specialties.
The fundamental objective of the orthognathodontic approach is the in-depth study of all clinical and managerial aspects that can lead to an improvement in the patient's quality of life, masticatory function, and implement esthetic appearance. Regulatory, informatics, and communication skills are included in the training that allow the specialist's preparation to be adequately completed and thus ensure standards of quality, effectiveness, and sustainability of therapeutic interventions.
